random word of the day: IT'S GROWING ON ME

random word of the day: IT’S GROWING ON ME – coraz bardziej mi się podoba (If someone or something grows on you, you like them more and more although you did not like them at first)

(1) Gangnam Style is growing on me and it’s not even funny.

(2) Never thought I would say this, but Windows 8 is growing on me.

(3) I was resistant to Chrome at first, but is has been growing on me.

(4) It is incredibly sweet and tastes a lot like bubble gum mixed with soda. The first time I tried it I didn’t like it, but now it is growing on me. It tastes so much better if you drink it really cold. (Inca Cola – a Peruvian soft drink)

be resistant to – przeciwny czemuś (not wanting to accept something, especially changes or new ideas)

bubble gum – guma balonowa

soda – napój gazowany (any type of sweet  fizzy (= with bubbles) drink which is not alcoholic)

a soft drink – napój bezalkoholowy (a non-alcoholic drink)

  1. Witam, to znowu ja z pytankiem o czasy ^^
Znowu nie czaje, i coraz bardziej mnie to denerwuje grrrr... mogłabyś wytłumaczyć mi czemu to zdanie wygląda właśnie tak? "I was resistant to Chrome at first, but is has been growing on me."
Dlaczego nie mogłoby być 'I was resistant to Chrome at first, but now is growing on me'

A wpis jak zwykle mi się podoba :)
    Pozdrawiam

  2. Cześć :)
Oba czasy są ok w tym kontekście.
Present Continuous (Something is growing on me) – mamy na myśli obecny moment, nie interesuje nas przeszłość, tylko teraźniejszość
Present Perfect Continuous (Something has been growing on me) – mamy na myśli coś, co zaczęło się w przeszłości i trwa do teraz (przeszłość plus teraźniejszośc)
Wszystko zależy od Ciebie, jak Ty postrzegasz jakąś sytuację.

    Pozdrawiam :)
